About:
- Martijn Bevelander is the founder behind the popular Netherlands social networking and chat sites ChatPlaza.NL and StayClose.Nl Founded in July 1997 when Mr. Bevelander was still a 17-year-old attending Eerste Christelijk Lyceum, ChatPlaza has been the number one chat site in The Netherlands for over 11 years. In 1997, in addition to founding ChatPlaza, Martijn Bevelander also founded another innovative business for its time, Bevelander Internet Services. By 1998, the workload that came with running an immensely popular website and one of the largest internet service providers in The Netherlands became too much work for Martijn Bevelander, and he chose to leave Eerste Christelijk Lyceum to keep up with the demand. By 2002, the break on the Internet Bubble, Martijn Bevelander left the ISP business behind him to seek out new business ventures. In 2003, Bevelander came across a different kind of investment, a discotheque in downtown Haarlem. The disco Club Delirium was struggling to stay afloat and facing bankruptcy when Bevelander purchased it from its previous owners. After infusing Club Delirium with some much-needed cash, the club began to rebound, and today, after five years of hard work, it is one of Haarlem’s most popular nightspots. In 2005, Martijn Bevelander returned to his roots as Internet entrepreneur, founding his newest website, StayClose.NL , StayClose B.V. is a Netherlands-based social networking site that combines blogging, video sharing, photo sharing, and news with the traditional elements of a social network site, such as friend finding and page membership. Much like Martijn Bevelander’s previous ventures, StayClose.NL has been a resounding success that continues to grow more popular daily.
